Colorado Chamber Players
The award-winning Colorado Chamber Players (CCP) is a diverse chamber ensemble of 12 distinguished musicians who perform over 55 concerts annually, mainly in Metro Denver. Founded in 1993, the CCP celebrates its Crystal 15th anniversary season in 2008-09, featuring Jeffrey Kahane as soloist in its opening concerts. Critics have praised the CCP as Intense, grand and assured and Magnificent! The group's core is string quintet, bass, 2 pianos, flute, oboe, clarinet & harp. Fifty percent of the CCP's concerts are for audiences comprised of seniors, students, hospital patients, & the disabled.
In 2008, the CCP was awarded a grant from the Argosy Foundation Contemporary Music Fund to record, produce & distribute Bruce Adolphe's "The Tiger's Ear: Listening to Abstract Expressionist Painting" to be released in 2010. The group regularly records at the Colorado Public Radio studios for radio broadcasts, reaching over 100,000 listeners per year in the Rocky Mountain region.
As a 2008-09 recipient of Chamber Music America's Ensemble Residency Award, the CCP presented 13 activities at The Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado including concerts for patients, chamber music coaching for staff, & outreach; the ensemble previously received the prestigious award in 2000. The CCP served as ensemble-in-residence at the Mizel Arts Center (1996-2006).
The CCP has commissioned works by composers Scott Higgins, David Waldman & Katrina Wreede, as well as NY-based poet Kate Light (Einstein's Mozart: Two Geniuses, 2006).
