Denver Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in 1948 by renowned conductor, Dr. Antonia Brico, the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) is the city's premier community orchestra.

For 60 seasons the DPO has presented high-quality, affordable classical music and brilliant soloists to the metro area. Each performance engages the audience with music that enriches the human experience. Since 1999, under the direction of world-class conductor, Dr. Horst Buchholz, the orchestra's repertoire has included many outstanding works rarely or never before performed in the Denver area.

The DPO has played with hundreds of prominent soloists and choirs as well as for operas and ballets. In recent years the DPO has performed at the King Center, the Newman Center, St. John's Cathedral, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, St. Elizabeth's Church and our home, KPOF Hall, located in the shadow of the state capitol building at 1340 Sherman Street.

The 2008-2009 season includes two symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Brahms' Third, Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," guest artists violinist Linda Wang, pianist Angela Cheng, organist Richard Robertson, and an evening of opera featuring soprano MeeAe Nam and tenor Sangho Choi. The orchestra will also perform a benefit chamber music concert.
