Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Inc.

The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Inc. (MJO) (501c3) is an 18-piece jazz orchestra, or 'big band', featuring male and female vocalists as well as a full time Musical Director/MC. Formed in January 2002, MJO performs in and around Denver for various events including concerts, fairs, benefits, galas, weddings, school functions and holiday programs.

The primary mission is to promote jazz education in the schools through MJO's three wildly successful on-going programs: MJO Presents, MJO All-Star Big Band, and Guest Artist Program. MJO currently performs monthly at Dazzle Jazz Club and The D-Note showcasing the "MJO Presents" high school program where the stage is shared with different high school jazz ensembles. From these performances, MJO has built its All-Star Band in June. Additionally, its Guest Artist Program brings professional jazz talent to Denver for clinics and concerts.

MJO has garnered a substantial following as a performing organization. MJO plays all styles of big band jazz including classic swing (Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman), modern swing (Basie, Kenton), Latin, rock, pop, traditional and holiday programs. With both male and female vocalists, it covers the gamut from Sinatra to Ella to Michael Buble and many more.

With an extensive repertoire, MJO can tailor a program to any theme! Its classy and professional stage presence coupled with refined and polished sound will help make any event a hit!
