High Praise: Music for Trebles and Organ

St. Martin’s Chamber Choir Virtual Performance. In addition to ethereal works for women’s voices and organ by Brahms and Mendelssohn, a small group of six women will perform the Mass for 3-part women’s chorus and organ by Hans Kössler (1853-1926), a German composer resident for much of his life in Hungary, and who counted Bartok and Kodály among his pupils. Musicologist Vera Lampert wrote of him, “He had a rare feeling for the virtuosic treatment of the voice, making his choral works especially worthy of attention.
