Raisins & Almonds: A Tu B’Shvat Celebration

The Colorado Heberw Chorale directed by Carol Kozak Ward, and its treble choir Kol Nashim directed by Leah Peer, proudly announce the return of their annual showcase, “Raisins & Almonds: A Tu B’Shvat Celebration” which will be held on Sunday Feb. 5 at the Hebrew Educational Alliance, 3600 S. Ivanhoe St. in Denver. Events begin at 5:30 with a VIP recepton with honoree, State Representative Dafna Michaelson Jenet who represents district 32 in Adams County.
The concert begins at 6:30 with local actor, Albert Banker serving as emcee. Both choirs are participating along with special musical guests Altitude, directed by Lisa Cameron. Altitude is the premier high school choir of the Denver children’s Choir. The program features music in English, Hebrew, Arabic, Italian and Ladino. It honors the forthcoming 75th birthday of Israel, the 400th anniversary of the publication of “Shiirm Asher L’Shlomo” (Songs of Solomon) by Italian-Jewish composer Salamone Rossi, and Tu B’shvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees.
Following the concert,there will be a dessert reception and Shira B’Tzibur, an Israeli sing-along. The concert and sing-along will be live-streamed.
