First Friday with Ketty Devieux

Join us for First Friday to welcome our newest artist, Ketty Devieux! A light reception will take place from 6-8pm at the AFD gallery. Her artwork will be exhibiting for the entire month of July and August.
It all began 17 years ago after she left her homeland, Haiti, ending her career as a lawyer to become a full time artist. In Washington DC where she landed, she devoted herself to this lifelong passion and pursued a formal training in fine arts at the Corcoran School of Art and Design. Today, her work is the product of cumulative years of immersion in art scenes as diverse as Latin America, Asia and of course, the United States.
Her art essentially reflects an existential quest and a spiritual journey. It follows the movements of her soul and as such, is mostly intuitive! My deep connection with Mother Earth, is pervasive throughout and motivates the whimsical strokes, the rawness of texture, the natural inclination toward an earthy palette and the choice of mundane supports and mediums (textile, paper, wine, tea, coffee, thread etc…)
