Testament: The Diary of Bella Berliner

This program highlights World War II diary excerpts from Barbara Hamilton’s great grandmother Bella Berliner. With the assistance of the Dutch underground, 66-year old Bella hid in seven different hiding places in Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam during World War II, after the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands. She survived the war, and emigrated to the USA after five years of separation from her family.
Actor Mare Trevathan will read excerpts from Bella’s diary, accompanied by slides of the era and some of Bella’s favorite composers.
Testament: The Diary of Bella Berliner, features music by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Shostakovich.
